RICHMOND, B.C. _ Jamie Stead scored with .03 left on the clock as Team Great Britain defeated Team Sweden 48-47 in a see-saw battle Friday at the Canada Cup International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament.
It was a tight match between Britain, ranked No. 5 in the world, and Sweden, ranked sixth. The lead changed hands several times and both teams made crucial mistakes.
RICHMOND, B.C. _ Team Sweden built an early lead 10-point then coasted to a 53-38 victory over Team Switzerland Friday to register their first victory at the Canada Cup International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament.
Sweden, ranked sixth in the world, held a 26-17 half-time lead over the Swiss, who are ranked 14th.
“We started off good, as planned,” said Sweden’s Tomas Hjert. “Maybe we got a bit comfortable because we stepped back a little bit.
“All in all it’s a solid win and we are happy about it.”
